John Whitaker and Peppermill contributed together for 6 years to numerous team medals for Great Britain, notably at the European Championships in Mannheim (2007) and Madrid (2011). Peppermill won several major Grands Prix, including Hickstead, Vejer de la Frontera, Rome, Valencia, and finally Madrid. With his respect for the jump, phenomenal power, and that extra touch of speed, Peppermill was the flagship of KWPN breeding for the British team, alongside his rider John Whitaker.
Peppermill is certainly one of the best horses I have ever had the privilege to ride.
His pedigree combines the finest stallions with high-performance mares!
His sire, Burggraaf, is a "keur pref" foundation stallion. Burggraaf himself competed internationally under Roelof Bril. At that time, Burggraaf cleared a 2.10m wall at Indoor Brabant.
Burggraaf is world-renowned, notably for his World Cup-winning offspring: S'Blieft, Burggravin, Millenium, Now or Never, and Kuno; for his Grand Prix winners: Obélisque and Power Point; and for many other descendants. Worldwide, Burggraaf has over 30 approved sons. Burggraaf also produced the champion (reserve) of the VSN, IAN-finales, Lanaken, and stallion competitions.
His granddam, Rosita, was born in 1975 and, under the name Expo Graphix with Eric van der Vleuten, achieved numerous national and international successes. Bred to Voltaire, she produced the mare Litaire, who is Peppermill’s dam.
Twister, Peppermill’s full brother, jumped at the 1.50m level with Laura Renwick. His grandsire, Voltaire, is the world's leading Hanoverian sire. Over the last 8 years, 98 of his descendants have competed internationally. No other Hanoverian comes close to this achievement. Voltaire’s top descendant in 2010 was Kellemoi de Pepita, ranked 6th in the Jumping Ranking. Peppermill’s sire is therefore the Holsteiner Burggraaf, who, with 102 international jumping offspring over the last 8 years, plays a leading role in the KWPN and Holsteiner studbooks. Peppermill is the only KWPN-approved stallion from the cross of these two top sires: Burggraaf x Voltaire, and he is now available for breeding!
Peppermill is long-lined and has a striking look. Speed, agility, and acceleration are the elements that make this stallion unique! Peppermill meets the high radiographic standards of the KWPN.
A true showjumping star, the KWPN stallion Peppermill (Burggraaf x Voltaire) enjoyed a brilliant sporting career under John Whitaker.
"A true showjumping star, the KWPN stallion Peppermill (Burggraaf x Voltaire), now 16 years old, has just arrived in Belgium after being entrusted by his owner, Rebecca Stones, to the Giguellerie stables of veterinarian Pierre Paindaveine. Approved by the AES and KWPN, Peppermill had a brilliant sporting career under John Whitaker after starting his career under Stuart Harvey, who personally brought his former mount to Belgium.
A double team bronze medalist at the European Championships in Mannheim and Madrid, representing Great Britain at the Hong Kong Olympics and the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, the powerful bay also won the **** Grands Prix of San Patrignano, Rome, and Valencia, as well as the ***** Nations Cups of Rome, Rotterdam, and Hickstead." (Studforlife, 2013-02-25)
In 2022, he celebrated his 25th birthday at the Giguellerie, where he has been living happily since 2013...
